The three ministries of the central government have been split just 22 days after their merger. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has split the ministries to 21 to include Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN) in the government.
Earlier, PM Oli had merged the erstwhile 31 ministries into 18 on February 23.
Ministry of Water Resources and Energy merged earlier has been split to make Energy and Irrigation ministries. Similarly, labor, employment, women and children and social security ministries are certain to split. Labor and employment will now be a separate ministry. Earlier, these two ministries used to function separately. Now, Labor and employment will be deemed as a separate ministry and women, children and social security will be considered another ministry.
The merged ministries are being split at a time when preparations are underway to write the merged names of the ministries in Singhadurbar.
Meanwhile, education, science and technology, and youth and sports ministries are also bound to be split. The government is making education, science and technology as a separate ministry. Likewise, youth and sports ministry will be also a separate ministry. Before the merger, these three ministries functioned separately.
PM Oli had earlier said that he would form a small government. But he has split the ministries for managing the aspirants.
The Constitution has a provision of inducting as many as 25 ministers in the central government.
