Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli will visit India in the second week of April.
PM Sharma Oli will pay a state visit to India from April 6-8 April on invitation of Indian PM Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said issuing a press statement on Friday. Oli will be accompanied by his spouse Radhika Shakya, ministers, lawmakers, secretaries and other high-ranking officials of the government, according to the press statement.
Oli will pay calls on Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu apart from holding official talks with Modi and exchange views on matters of mutual interests. Some senior Indian Cabinet ministers will also meet Oli.
Oli will also visit Patnagar, Uttarakhand and attend a program organized at Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology during his visit.
Indian PM Narendra Modi had invited his counterpart Oli for India visit while congratulating him after being appointed as PM. Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj also visited Nepal before Oli's appointment on his invitation.
Oli had also visited India from February 18-26, 2016 during his first term as PM. But the two countries had failed to even issue a joint statement due to the lingering tension after the six-month Indian blockade that had ended just before the Oli's visit.
