Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa on Friday said former Minister and spokesperson of the Netra Bikram Chand led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Khadga Bahadur Bishwokarma has been arrested for unleashing the terror of extortion.
Speaking to media persons at the Bharatpur Airport on his way to attending the graduation ceremony of junior police officers at the Police Training Center in Bharatpur, Home Minister Thapa stressed that Bishwokarma should face the law as he was involved in criminal activities.
Bishwokarma was arrested in Kathmandu Tuesday night. The police said documents recovered from Bishwokarma show that he had extorted Rs 70 million.
The police are conducting further investigations after getting judicial custody of him from the court.
Thapa and Bishwokarma were fellow comrades in the then Maoist party.
