Former Prime Minister and Convener of Naya Shakti Party, Nepal Dr Baburam Bhattarai has asked the representatives of local governments to do away with corruption.
Addressing the special municipality assembly of Halesi Tuwachung Municipality of Khotang district on Thursday, Dr Bhattarai said that corruption instead of Singha Durbar's rights is learnt to have become pervasive in local government.
He also said that the local governments were facing legal hassles in their operation for lack a clear legal provision adding that such laws could not be formulated prior to the elections due to the anti-federalist forces.
Also on Wednesday, the former PM visited Tuwachung, the origin of Kirat community.
