The government has banned activities of the CPN formed by Netra Birkam Chand after splitting from the then Maoists after their recent destructive activities. The Cabinet meeting on Tuesday took a decision to that regard.
"We called them for dialogue but they did not reciprocate and started to detonate bombs," a minister told Setopati. "What else could have been solution to that? We have, therefore, decided to ban them."
The government has acted tough after detonation of bombs by the Chand led Maoists in Kathmandu Valley and different parts of the country in recent times and their aggressive extortion drive.
The group had detonated a bomb in front of the head office of Ncell in Nakkhu on February 22, and another at the residence of chairman of Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Agencies Rohan Gurung on Friday.
Prime Minister (PM) and CPN Chairman KP Sharma Oli and fellow chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal have been making tough statements against the party since then. Chand's cadres are also being arrested on a large scale.
Addressing a program on Monday PM Oli had said the government will not hold dialogue with the group that terrorize people and plunder in the name of communists.
