Third ranked leader of the Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN and in-charge of the central command Hemanta Prakash Oli and seven others have been arrested by the police on Friday.
A joint team of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division, Special Bureau and Kavre Police arrested the eight from Kavrepalanchowk Saturday. Dharma Raj Rajbahak, Ram Krishna Khatiwada, Shankar Adhikari, Bijay Shrestha, Lalit Tamang, Sanjeev Karki, Dev Ghimire, Lokendra Khadka and Oli were nabbed after a tipoff when they were coming to Kathmandu.
Oli is ranked third in the party after Chand and Khadga Bahadur Bishwokarma, and has taken responsibility of the bomb explosion in front of Ncell head office that killed a man, and other explosions inside the Kathmandu Valley.
The arrest of eight has come a week after politburo member of the party Mohan Karki was arrested from Balkumari, Lalitpur last Friday.
The Cabinet meeting on March 12 had decided to ban activities of the Chand-led party after rise in destructive activities and extortion drive.
