The government has warned donors of the banned Netra Birkam Chand-led CPN of action. Issuing a press statement on Sunday, the Home Ministry has said anyone providing direct or indirect financial or other kinds of assistance to the party involved in criminal and destructive activities will be punished.
"We request you all to inform the nearest police station if anyone forcibly seeks financial assistance or make threats," the statement reads. "We notify that anyone providing such assistance to such groups or facilitating such assistance will be punished in accordance to the law."
The Cabinet meeting on March 12 had decided to ban activities of the Chand-led party after rise in destructive activities and extortion drive.
The government has intensified action against the party after that and has arrested many leaders and cadres including third-ranked leader Hemanta Prakash Oli and politburo member Mohan Karki.
