The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) has announced Shadow Cabinet. NC President and parliamentary party leader Sher Bahadur Deuba has formed 21-strong Shadow Cabinet as per Article 9(5a) of the parliamentary party statute.
Gyanendra Bahadur Karki will head the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Narayan Khadka that of foreign affairs, Minendra Rijal finance, Dilendra Prasad Badu home, Umakanta Chaudhary urban development, and Kishore Singh Rathor youth and sports in the Shadow Cabinet.
Similarly, Gagan Thapa will head the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Min Bahadur Bishwokarma industry, commerce and supplies, Sujata Pariyar water supply, Parvata DC health and population, Devendra Raj Kandel culture, tourism and civil aviation, Dila Sangraula Panta labor, employment and social security, Bahadur Singh Lama communication and information technology, Laxmi Pariyar land reform, cooperatives and poverty alleviation, Atahar Kamal Musalman federal affairs and general administration, Padma Narayan Chaudhary agriculture and livestock, Uma Regmi women, children and elderly, Bhimsen Das Shrestha defence, Sanjay Kumar Gautam physical infrastructure and transport, Rajendra Kumar KC forest and environment, Radheshyam Adhikari law, justice and parliamentary affairs.
The party has also formed coordination committees for each ministry under the shadow ministers.
