Province 2 Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut has spoken of the need of change in people’s mindset to keep the settlement neat and clean.
In his address to a workshop related to the open defecation campaign Tuesday at Janakrpurdham, he was confident that every home would have a toilet and there would be no issue of defecation if people became aware of and realized its importance by heart.
Stating the province government was ever ready to cooperate in efforts meant for transforming Dhanusha and Mahottari districts into open defecation-free zones, he pledged to construct public toilets for those people unable to afford to construct one.
The government wants information about the location required for constructing public toilets. Such facilities are going to be built under the Cleanliness Campaign launched by the state government, according to him.
The seminar held with the focus on open defecation-free and clean settlements was attended by local representatives and administrative officers of Dhanusha and Mahottari districts. It was organized by the province 2 drinking water, sanitation and cleanliness coordination committee. The participants expressed commitments to make the respective local level free from open defecation by the end of coming July. The data show that 95 percent households in Dhanusha and 96 percent in Mahottari have toilets.
