The House of Representatives (HoR) has been adjourned till Thursday due to obstruction by the opposition parties.
The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) and another opposition party Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJP) have been demanding parliamentary probe of two separate incidents of police killings in Sarlahi district. They have been demanding parliamentary investigation into killing of Sarlahi incharge of Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Kumar Paudel, and that of Saroj Narayan Singh during a demonstration.
They added new demands of punishing the culprits involved in rape and murder of Nirmala Panta of Kanchanpur over a year ago, and making the report of Girish Chandra Lal commission formed to probe reported atrocities during the Madhes movement on Wedneday.
The opposition lawmakers continued to chant slogans on those different issues even as Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara switched the microphones off.
Mahara, who would switch the microphones back on while speaking, repeatedly requested the opposition lawmakers to take seat and allow operation of the House pointing that he has already drawn the government's attention toward the concerns of the lawmakers but to no avail.
Mahara finally adjourned the House until two Thursday afternoon after the lawmakers continued to chant slogans for an hour.
