The Kaski chapter of youth wing of ruling CPN has banned entry of self-declared anti-corruption campaigner Gyanendra Shahi in the district for confronting Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai for delaying a Kathmandu-bound flight from Nepalgunj Saturday evening.
"Those who mislead the society by abusing the social media, foment conflicts and oppose the recent achievements and changes are sponsored and mobilized actors," the youth wing in Kaski has stated issuing a press statement on Sunday. "Banning entry of antagonists like Gyanendra Shahi who has been involved in such campaign in recent times in the republican land of Kaski, we urge the general public to help by supporting rule of law and recent achievements and changes."
The Kaski ban of Shahi is in line with instruction of the ruling CPN Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to students and youths on Monday to retaliate against anarchic and reactionary tendencies directed against the democratic republic.
The youth wing has also warned of necessary retaliatory programs against the reactionary forces.
The Constitution allows Nepali citizen to visit any place inside the country but the youth wing of ruling CPN has banned entry of Shahi in Kaski violating that fundamental right.
"The Constitution allows people to travel. But it has also prohibited smear campaign against others. We have said that we will stop if such activities are done," Kaski chairman of the erstwhile Young Communist League (YCL) Bhoj Raj Paudel who signed on the statement told Setopati. "We don't mean he cannot come to Kaski by the ban. We have said that we will retaliate and take action if he comes to Kaski and speaks in a way to smear anyone without any evidence."
He pointed that his organization has been resisting and stopping malpractices when asked if it has legal authority to stop anyone from going to a place. "We have said we will stop Shahi's activities as they are also wrongdoings. They cannot speak against the republican system that has been achieved after sacrifice of 17,000 persons."
A group led by Shahi had confronted Bhattarai inside the plane Saturday evening and its video is viral on the social media. There was pandemonium when Shahi organized a press conference on that issue in the Kathmandu Valley on Sunday.
Shahi was taken under police control from the press conference and released on Monday.
