CPN Chairmen KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal have started to attend public programs together ending their bitter relationship of over six months.
Prime Minister (PM) Oli and Dahal both attended a discussion with ayurvedic experts about COVID-19 pandemic at Baluwatar on Thursday. Oli had held a meeting with opposition leaders and experts at Baluwatar about the pandemic on August 4 but Dahal had given the meeting a miss due to his bitter relation with Oli.
Their relationship had deteriorated after Oli unilaterally postponed standing committee meeting on July 28. A total of 29 standing committee members had attended the meeting called by Dahal the same day but Oli and leaders of his faction did not attend the meeting.
The chairmen had then formed a task force on August 14 to resolve the internal dispute. The task force submitted the report to the two chairmen on August 22. The report was presented to the secretariat on September 3.
That report will now be presented and discussed in the standing committee today.
The presence of two chairmen together in a public program a day before the resumption of standing committee meeting is taken meaningfully.
Leader close to Dahal Devendra Paudel said cooperation between the two chairmen has started. "The differences between the two chairmen are gradually ending. Their cooperation has started now," Paudel told Setopati "This is a positive start for party."
