A Nepali 'drug peddler' has been killed in police action in Indonesia. Second Secretary at the Nepali Embassy in Malaysia, that also oversees Indonesia, Prem Raj Gautam told Setopati that he has heard that Sharan Tamang, 34, has been killed in police action.
"We are trying to learn details of the incident from our non-residential consul there. We may know all the details by tomorrow," Gautam told Setopati.
Tamang was reportedly arrested by the Indonesian Police from Alpine Hotel in Jakarta. The police team had gone to the hotel as decoy buyers of narcotic drugs. The police reportedly recovered four kilograms of methamphetamine, known as meth, and over 50 grams of other narcotic drugs from him. The police claimed he was shot as he tried to abscond after the arrest.
