Inspector General of Police Prakash Aryal Thursday said people's faith is the main asset of the entire police department.
"Peace and security should include participation of the people and be an issue for discussion in the federal context, instead of limiting itself for discussion only to a tea shop and a chowk," he said while inaugurating a new building of the District Police Office, Ilam.
Saying that illegal activities being carried out by police personnel at times have tarnished the department and eroded people's faith in it, he said the police personnel in question would be booked.
He also urged the people not to judge the police department by only bad performances made by some police personnel.
The event was attended by the Additional Inspector General of Police Pankaj Shrestha, police chief at Province 1 Pashupati Upadhyay, Chief of Mechi Zonal Police Pitambar Adhikari and Senior Superintendent of Police Kedar Rijal, among others.
