Free eye checkup service to drivers and helpers

As many as 970 people underwent eye checkup at a free eye camp set up for the benefit of drivers and their helpers here on Sunday. The eye checkup camp was organised with the objective of contributing to minimizing the likelihood of road accidents, on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Himalayan Eye Hospital, Gharipatan, Pokhara and 100 years of the Lions Club International. Twenty people of those who underwent eye checkups have been referred to the Himalayan Eye Hospital for advanced treatment. Medicines were provided to 400 people and glasses to more than 300 people free of cost at the eye camp set up at the Western Region Community Hospital at local Prithvichowk, said program coordinator Binod Dhungana.
