The Rs 3 billion Regional Town Development Project has come into operation in Kanchanpur and Kailali districts.
Funded by the Asian Development Bank, the project is based in the Bhimdutta municipality, the Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City, Godawari municipality and Shuklaphanta municipality in Kailali.
“The project aims to manage and equip the town with necessary infrastructures, which helps to realize the aim to make the town a model one in Province 7,” said Mayor of Bhimdutta municipality Surendra Bista.
Development of the town has been divided into different phases, with a 20-year-plan in place to make Bhimdutta a model town, and a five years plan to prioritize infrastructure development. Management of garbage and drainage and construction of a water purification center would also be prioritized, he said.
Under this project, a survey has been conducted to blacktop the local two lanes 36-km road. Likewise, a two lanes road will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.7 billion, said engineer for the municipality Himalaya Singh Aire.
