The missing Makalu Air plane out of contact while on way to Simikot from Surkhet has crashed at Bahunchaur of Khrapunath rural municipality in Humla killing both the pilots on board.
The plane has been found crashed at Bahunchaur which is 7.7 nautical mile south to the Simikot Airport, according to Chief of Tribhuvan International Airport Raj Kumar Chhetri.
There are no passengers in the plane with the cabin crew including pilot Kiran Bhattarai and co-pilot Aditya Nepali. Bodies of both the pilots have been recovered and have been sent to Surkhet, according to DSP with Humla Police Rabin Shrestha.
The single-engine plane (9N-AJU) that left Surkhet with 1,170 kilograms of food grains at 6:12 Wednesday morning was scheduled to land at Simikot at 6:55.
Helicopters were deployed in search of the nine-seater plane.
