The government has made preparation to implement Social Security Program based on contribution within one-and-half months.
In course of clause-wise discussion on 'Employment Act-2075' in Tuesday's meeting of the Industry, Commerce, Labour and Consumer Rights Protection Committee under the Federal Parliament, it was shared that workers working in the formal and informal sectors would also be brought under the ambit of social security.
Saying the government would provide 100 days' employment in one fiscal year to each unemployed person, Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security, Gokarna Bista, said that livelihood allowance would be provided if the government fails to guarantee minimum employment.
Taking part in clause-wise discussion, lawmaker Khagaraj Baral suggested making the provision where foreign national could work in Nepal only after taking work permit.
Similarly, Gagan Thapa said that a separate fund would be set up for the implementation of programs provisioned by the Act while Yasoda Subedi Gurung stressed that the Employment Rights Act should guarantee minimum employment to families of martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for country's changes, forcibly disappeared persons, injured and persons with disabilities.
Likewise, Nabaraj Rawal, Parbati Bishankhe, Kedar Sigdel, Prem Suwal and Asha Kumari BK also put forth their views in the clause-wise discussion.
