The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has formed a rapid monitoring task force to monitor the serious violations of human rights.
The team is formed with coordination of Murari Prasad Kharel, Director at Department of Law, Investigation and Monitoring at NHRC. The team conducts immediate monitoring of the incidents across the country and makes public the report, said NHRC Secretary, Bed Bhattarai.
Issuing a press statement on Wednesday, Secretary Bhattarai urged people from all sides to help in NHRC initiative to protect and promote human rights. "The study of the current situation has showed that challenges were surfacing in protecting people's right to life, dignity, freedoms and equality," he said, adding that further initiatives were imperative to deepen human rights values at a time when the country has been heading to the path of democracy and durable peace through election.
He however showed concern over the incidents occurred in various places of the country, thereby violating citizen's fundamental rights as freedom of expression, social and cultural rights, impunity, illegal detention and torture, excessive use of force, murder, explosion and extortion.
