Three persons have been recommended for vice-chairman of the Medical Education Commission.
An Education Ministry source said Dr Surendra Sherchan, Dr Shambhu Pahari and Dr Sri Krishna Giri have been recommended by the committee headed by Public Service Commission Chairman Umesh Mainali.
The committee submitted the names to the ministry on Wednesday, according to the source.
A total of 11 persons had applied for the position. The three have been selected from among the nine after two applicants did not come for interview.
Sherchan, who is on the top of the list, is a former director of Patan Mental Hospital. Pahari has worked at Bir Hospital for a long time.
Giri, who is close to Education Minister Giriraj Mani Pokharel, is an orthopedic specialist. He was rector at the National Academy of Medical Sciences.
The Ministry will take these names to the next Cabinet meeting for decision.
