The Health Ministry has appealed to private hospitals to allot 20 percent of beds for COVID-19 management.
The Health Emergency Operation Center at the ministry issuing a statement on Friday has appealed to the private hospitals citing lack of hospital beds with cases rising in recent times. "Shortage of hospital beds is rising in places including the Kathmandu Valley. It has, therefore, been appealed to all the private hospitals to keep 20 percent of beds for COVID-19 management," it reads.
Patients earlier were being referred to designated COVID-19 hospitals after testing positive. It has now urged the private hospitals to treat the infected patients themselves in coordination with the designated COVID-19 hospitals citing lack of beds in the designated hospitals.
It has also urged to make referrals to any hospital in the Valley only in coordination with the designated hospital and with permission from the ministry.
