Police fired in the air to enforce prohibitory orders at Lothar of Rapti municipality 1 in Chitwan on Monday.
Chief of the Nepal Police for Bagmati province DIG Basanta Lama said police had to fire in the air after around 200 persons gathered and tried to violate the prohibitory orders.
Locals demonstrated against the administration's decision to impose prohibitory orders in most of the district to control COVID-19 pandemic.
"The police could not go near them to try to convince them as social distance had to be maintained. The crowd was dispersed by firing a round in the air," DIG Lama stated.
He added that the situation came under control after the police fire in the air.
