A cameraperson who was involved in filming burning of the national flag has been arrested on Tuesday.
A team of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division has arrested the cameraperson from Kathmandu on Tuesday, according to a police source. The cameraperson's identity has not been revealed.
The police are searching for singer of the music video Geljang Dorje Tamang.
A Youtube channel named Mongol Hop had released the music video titled Deshdrohi on Monday. Tamang is seen burning the national flag in the video.
The police had initiated investigation after widespread condemnation of the video. The video seems to have been filmed at Sri Bishnu Aadharbhut School of Salleni in Bagmati rural municipality 3, Makwanpur.
"We are investigating the issue. We have intensified the search for singer," Spokesperson at the division Ishwore Karki said. "It's a grave offense of spreading disillusionment. We are investigating it."
The police have also requested to not share such video and be involved in that.
The Criminal Code 2017 prohibits insult and destruction of national anthem and national flag. It has a provision of three years of imprisonment or fine of Rs 30,000 or both for anyone involved in such acts.
