The district level COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) has concluded that prohibitory orders should be imposed in the Kathmandu Valley to check the surging infections.
A meeting including chief district officers (CDO) of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur, and security chiefs of the districts on Tuesday has concluded so. Only the government can take the decision on recommendation of the central level CCMC.
"Everyone has opined that prohibitory orders have to be issued. What the government decides on the basis of the decision of district-level security committee has yet to come," Chief of the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu SSP Shyam Gyawali told Setopati.
Spokesperson with the District Administration Office, Kathmandu Tulsi Ram Paudel said the meeting discussed that everything apart from essential services including emergency vehicles, and food and medicine stores should be closed for a week.
The meeting has also decided to urge the government to expand isolation to 1,000 beds as infected persons have to be taken out from their home and kept in isolation wards. Paudel revealed that the meeting proposed that medical colleges inside the Valley can be used for the purpose. It has also decided to demand for at least 15 more COVID-19 ambulances for the Valley.
It has urged the government to stop chartered flights until quarantine facilities are expanded further. The Tourism Ministry already had urged the central level CCMC to stop chartered flights on Monday.
