The government has added 6,202 hospital beds for COVID-19 patients.
Health Ministry Spokesperson Dr Jageshwore Gautam during the daily coronavirus briefing on Friday said that 1,000 beds have been added at the center, 957 at the provincial hospitals and 3,245 at the local level.
He added that hospitals have been prepared at all the 649 local bodies at the rate of five in each.
The government on Friday has also designated two hospitals in the Kathmandu Valley and National Medical College in Birgunj as COVID-19 hospitals even as the infection surges. Janamaitri and Kantipur hospitals have been designated as dedicated COVID-19 hospitals in the Valley.
Teku, Patan and APF hospitals were the only COVID-19 designated hospitals in the Valley until now.
