Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli has instructed the Health Ministry and the government and private sector bodies concerned to immediately prepare plans to address the sociopsychological problems created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He pointed that the psychiatrists and psychologists have a special contribution to make for creation of a society free of disillusionment, annoyance, fear and anxiety during a discussion with them at Baluwatar on Tuesday, according to PM's press advisor Surya Thapa.
"It is necessary to immediately operate massive consultation and awareness campaign against the effects of COVID-19 through the media including television and radio. Psychiatrists and psychologists must make active contribution in that," Thapa quoted PM Oli as saying during the discussion.
Dr Sudarshan Narsingh Pradhan, Dr Pashupati Mahat, Dr Saroj Prasad Ojha, Dr Divya Singh Shah, Dr Ritesh Thapa, Dr Sagun Panta, Dr Ananta Adhikari, Dr Phanindra Baral, Dr Roshan Pokharel and others were present during the discussion.
The doctors presented short-term and long-term measures that have to be adopted to address the situation to PM Oli.
