Eleven bodies have been recovered and 24 persons are still missing following landslides in Barhabise municipality of Sindhupalchowk Sunday morning.
DSP with Sindhupalchowk Police Prakash Sapkota said 11 bodies have been recovered until now while 20 persons including three from BK Tole of Bhirkharka, 16 from Nakpuje and one from Newar Tole of ward no 7 are still missing.
Bhakti Maya Shrestha, 62, Sarkini Newar, 60, Junu BK, 23, Suk Lal BK, 24, Sandesh BK, eight, Dhan Lal Newar 65, Hira Maya Newar, 60, Taxi Sherpa 98, Gyani Maya Pradhan, 42, Saraswati BK, five, and Karan Bahadur Shrestha, 25, have been identified as those killed in the landslides.
DSP Sapkota said search has been stopped for the night and will again resume Monday morning. He revealed that 22 houses have been destroyed due to the landslides while 17 more are still under risk.
Deputy Mayor of Bahrabise Sushila Pakhrin said tents have been set up for the families that are under risk. "We have set up around 15 tents. We are making arrangements for food and light for the families."
The landslide started from Nakchuchche of ward 7 and continued at different places till Barkharka following incessant rainfall.
