Police have arrested a man involved in terrorizing women by attacking with sharply pointed objects from Maharajgunj early Friday morning.
Santosh Karki, 30, of Ramechhap currently staying in Maharajgunj has been arrested at 1 Friday morning after investigating CCTV footages of the places where syringe attacks were reported, according to SP with Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu Ashok Singh.
Attacks on women with sharp pointed objects in the evening and night have been reported in the Kathmandu Valley in recent times. Men would attack the women walking on the road with pointed objects and run away. Many women have reached the hospital for treatment saying they were pierced with a syringe. Some even lodged police complaints.
Five women have lodged formal complaints with the police about such attacks until now.
IGP Sarbendra Khanal had instructed the police to investigate the incidents after such attacks were reported even in Bhaktapur and Kavre districts.
Karki has told the police he used to pierce women with nails, and not syringe, and run away.
