Mahindra Raya Yadav of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJP) Chairman Council will administer oath of office and secrecy to House of Representatives (HoR) members on Sunday.
He was born on June 29, 1954. His date of birth according to citizenship certificate is 1938. Yadav who is just 63 years old will administer oath of office to HoR members as an 80-year-old.
Some lawmakers including Mahantha Thakur of RJP Chairman Council and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba are actually older than Yadav.
President Bidhya Devi Bhandari will first administer oath of office and secrecy to Yadav and Yadav will then administer it to other HoR members.
Yadav will take oath of office in mother tongue Bajjika. The parliament secretariat has already provided the content of oath to him.
Yadav said he will take oath of office in cultural attire. "It is a matter of rights vested by the constitution that has given equal rights to attire and language of everyone," Yadav said. "I have already written to the parliament secretariat about the issue of language."
"The issue of age in citizenship certificate is technical," Yadav told Setopati. "What is mentioned in the citizenship certificate is official."
Yadav was born in Basantapur-5 of Sarlahi. He was elected to the HoR from Sarlahi-2. He had mentioned his date of birth as 1954 during his stint as member of the second Constituent Assembly (CA).
Tara Devi Bhatta, 69, will administer oath of office in the National Assembly.
