Visiting head of state/government will be given guard of honor at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel now onward.
Pakistani Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, who is arriving for a two-day official visit at 3 pm on Monday, will be the first foreign guest to get guard of honor at Tundikhel.
Nepal Army (NA) Spokesperson Brigadier General Gokul Bhandari said an NA team will give guard of honor to Abbasi at the Army Pavilion after five in the evening. PM KP Sharma Oli will also be present during the guard of honor.
The visiting dignitaries were earlier given guard of honor at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) immediately on landing.
The counterpart of the host country has to be present during the guard of honor. This meant the president or PM had to go to the TIA to receive the visiting presidents/PMs. The government has taken the decision to provide guard of honor at the Army Pavilion to end the compulsion of president or PM having to go to the TIA to receive the guest.
Abbasi will meet Oli on Monday itself. Oli will also host a banquet in honor of Abbasi in the evening.
Abbasi will return home on Tuesday.
