The joint meeting of the federal parliament called for
Monday to discuss about issues including operation of the parliament has been stalled.
Spokesperson at the Parliament Secretariat Bharat Gautam said the meeting has been stalled after lawmakers objected to the violation in procedure of calling the meeting.
Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Krishna Bahadur Mahara, who has already chaired the joint meeting when President Bidya Devi Bhandari presented the government's policies and programs, was scheduled to chair the meeting.
Speaker Mahara is required to convene the joint meeting by taking a decision at the HoR but he called the meeting putting a notice instead. The meeting was stopped after lawmakers pointed to that anomaly.
Gautam said the joint meeting will now be convened
on Wednesday.
