Kathmandu Police is set to file an obscenity case against Jitin Limbu who protested against the new General Code in front of Singha Durbar naked with just a pamphlet covering his modesty.
He was taken under control on Friday while protesting in front of the southern gate of Singha Durbar against the General Code demanding removal of cow as national animal.
Spokesperson with the Kathmandu Police DSP Mohan Thapa said additional investigation has been initiated against him after getting his judicial custody extended by seven days from the Kathmandu District Court as per clause 122 of the new Criminal Code. He is currently kept at the Metropolitan Police Circle Singh Durbar.
Clause 122(1) of the Criminal Code states 'A person above 10 years should not indulge in vulgar activities or behavior or display sex organs at public place except for the purpose of health science or medical treatment, or speak vulgar words or make vulgar signs.'
It has a provision of jail term of up to six months or a fine of Rs 5,000 or both for the offense.
