Mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City Bijay Kumar Sarawagi has resigned from the Federal Socialist Forum, Nepal (FSFN) citing lack of respect and necessary cooperation from the party.
“I repeatedly urged the party leaders for cooperation and respectful behavior but to no avail. I have been forced to relinquish the party membership,” Sarawagi told Setopati.
Mayor Sarawagi, during a discussion with party leaders at Makalu Hotel a few days ago, had threatened to leave the party if the environment were not conducive to work, according to sources.
Sarawagi has submitted the resignation to Birgunj in-charge of the party Mohan Chaudhary who is also a central committee member. He has copied the resignation letter to FSFN Chairman Upendra Yadav on the messaging platform WhatsApp.
Parsa chairman of the party lawmaker Pradeep Yadav, however, expressed ignorance about Sarawagi’s resignation. “No resignation letter has been received by the party office,” he said. “I can comment only after receiving the letter informing his resignation from the party.”
Sarawagi had joined FSFN along with industrialists and businessmen just ahead of the local elections last year.
