The girl who had complained of gang rape at a hotel in Durbar Marg has changed her statement to the police.

The girl, who had gone out of contact after complaining to the police, went to the Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu Wednesday evening and said she was not raped.

She had verbally complained at Durbar Marga Police Saturday morning stating that she was raped at Landmark Hotel Friday night.

She has told the probe committee formed by police that she had consensual sex with a friend from Ramechhap.

SP with Kathmandu Police Ram Dutta Joshi confirmed that the girl has come into contact and the case is being investigated.

The police have estimated that she may have changed her statement under pressure. A member of the probe committee told Setopati that she claimed she has not been influenced by anyone when SP Joshi asked her if she is changing the statement under pressure.

IGP Prakash Aryal had instructed the Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu to investigate the incident with urgency.

DSP of Durbar Marga has been transferred to Kathmandu Police while inspector Laxman Thakuri has been taken under control after the incident.

There have been rumors that the police may have engineered a settlement by taking Rs 3 million from those involved in the incident.
