Demonstrations continued Thursday in major marketplaces in Bhimdutta Municipality in Kanchanpur district, demanding the identification and necessary action against the murderer of a minor of the district.
Locals have been protesting and staging demonstration in various places including Bhimdutta Bazaar, Bhansi, Suda, Lalpur, Sisaiya, Daiji and Champhapur, among others, for four days demanding the arrest of the murderer of 13-year-old Nirmala Panta of Kholti in Bhimdutta Municipality-2.
Panta was found murdered in a sugarcane farm on July 26. She was killed after being raped.
Demonstrators have been burning tyres in the major thoroughfares of the town while students from various schools too have been taking part in the demonstrations.
Locals markets and schools have been shut down due to the demonstrations while the transportation services operated from Bhimdutta too have been obstructed.
Security personnel have been mobilized in large numbers in protesting areas to avert the untoward incidents, according to the District Police Office, Kanchanpur.
Demonstrators had chanted slogans in front of the Bedkot municipality, Bhimdutta municipality and District Administration Office.
Meanwhile, the security have been beefed up in the town since the demonstration is growing intense with each passing days, said Senior Superintendent of Police Bikram Chand.
A team led by SSP Chand has been formed and mandated to look into the murder case of Panta.
