Six-month-old baby Muskan Bayak, who was attacked with acid, breathed his last on Wednesday.
According to District Police Office, Achham, Bayak was attacked with acid at 11 am on Tuesday. He breathed his last while being taken to Nepalgunj from District Hospital Achham.
The son of Mahabir Bayak hailing from Turmakhad rural municipality was brought to District Hospital Achham on Wednesday. "It was not possible for doctors to treat him there. The body was completely burnt in the attack," SP at District Police Office, Achham Janak Shahi told Setopati, "The baby after being referred to Nepalgunj died on the way."
Police informed that the baby was attacked while he was being breastfed by his mother Devsara Bayak. "We found that the whole body of the baby was totally burnt," DSP Shahi said quoting Devsara, "The baby was first taken to a local health post."
According to SP Shahi, police arrested Janaki Bayak, one of the relatives of the baby, on alleged involvement in the acid attack. "We have to walk half the way on foot. So it was already late to start treatment," Shahi said.
The investigation into the case is underway, police said.
