The Nepal Army has urged one and all not to doubt on the completion of the Kathmandu-Tarai Fast-track Project, a project of national pride and strategic importance, in the stipulated time.
Chief of the Fast-track Project and Lieutenant General Yogendra Bahadur Khand claimed at a news conference at the Army Headquarters here Thursday that the Army was capable of completing the project within the deadline provided there is constructive cooperation and goodwill from all quarters, no matter how challenging it might be from the technical aspect.
Stating that the works like leveling the hills and mounds and filling up soil in the ditches were being carried out expeditiously in line with the road demarcation, he said the project works have been forwarded on the basis of work plan and schedule.
It was also shared on the occasion that the Nepal Army was working on the project taking the trust of the government and the people that the Army can complete the works fast and at low cost while maintaining the quality as an opportunity to create history.
A Korean consultant Soosong Consultants has been selected for preparing the detailed project report of the Fast-track.
Lieutenant General Khand said that an agreement for the construction of the project would be signed with the company within this month and the DPR would be ready in four months of the signing of the agreement.
The DPR would be prepared at an estimated cost of about Rs 101.5 million. It is believed that the 76-kilometer fast track will link Kathmandu with the Tarai geographically and emotionally.
The total stretch has been divided into 10 sections and works are being done through 28 contractors.
The Nepal Army has built 1,114 kilometers of roads and 29 bridges in various parts of the country. The Army is currently constructing 526 kilometers of roads including the Fast-track.
